Whether it’s making robots and torches, painting on the ice, or trying your hand at family yoga, there’s plenty of fun to be had in the city in the next seven days.
- Little Makers are invited to Broomhall Community Centre today, to to learn how to make things using art materials, batteries, and bulbs.
Little ones can make torches, films, robots and much more in the makerspace, at the Broomspring Lane venue, whilst having fun learning about science and technology. And the best part – this is a completely free session!
The makerspace is run by staff from The University of Sheffield, working with volunteers, and children will be supervised at all times by responsible adults who have undergone safeguarding checks.
The session runs each Tuesday, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, and refreshments will be provided.
- Over at Yoga At The Reach, on Blenheim Road, Saturdays just got a whole lot better, with a Saturday morning family yoga class. It is ideally suited for wee ones aged from two-to-three years, to about eight-or-nine years to enjoy with their grown up. Drop in one weekend, or buy a block of sessions.. - If you and your teen are constantly butting heads at the moment, head to The Karma Hub, in the Old Church, Rotherham Road, for a Tuning into Teens session, which aims to help you and your adolescent manage the many emotional challenges of this stage of life. Tuning in to Teens is a six-week parenting program, running one session per week for two hours. The program will teach you how to manage your own and your adolescent’s emotions in ways that help you to remain close and keep communicating. By learning these skills, you are less likely to have as much conflict within your family and your teen is more likely to talk to you about the challenging issues they face. Call 07435 634708 to book your place.
- Get creative with a session of painting on the ice, at Ice Sheffield, on Coleridge Road, this Saturday. Try something new, painting straight on to the ice as you let your ideas run free. The weekly ‘Family Skate’ session will run from 10.45am to 3.30pm, with the option for joining in the painting from 1pm until the session’s end. There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting and colouring for the kids, and plenty of refreshments available for children, mums and dads.
