Pile-ups shut major routes
Traffic chaos hit the roads this morning after two smashes in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
The M1 southbound between junctions 28 and 29 near Chesterfield and Mosborough Parkway was closed by multiple-car collisions.
Two people were cut from the their vehicle and taken to hospital after a three-car smash on the M1. Six walking wounded were treated at the scene and the road was closed for hours.
Mosborough Parkway was closed from Coisley Hill to Sheffield Parkway after a four- car collision. Three people were hurt. Police say a car trying to overtake went out of control.
