Phone-in win for student

Amanda Steel used the cash to buy a new PC after her computer broke down leaving her unable to finish her coursework.

The 28-year-old from High Green won the money on Virgin Radio's Music Makes Money competition.

Amanda, a mature student at Sheffield University, said: "I was surprised when they called up, and even more surprised when I won."

Each question was worth 200 and by answering three correctly Amanda could have gambled her winnings.

She said: "I thought it better to quit while I was ahead and take the money."
