Youngsters flock to activity day and prove 'Kids Can Do'

A KIDS activity day at Sheffield's Norfolk Park pulled in crowds of children keen to learn circus skills and get creative with arts and crafts.

The activity day, run by Positive Activities SOVA Sheffield, was the culmination of a summer of events for vulnerable children, some of whom have disabilities or have been taken into care.

This summer the PASS programme has included a trip to the Magna centre in Rotherham and days out to the Peak District, providing entertainment for the children during the long school holidays.

Rosie Chitty, SOVA's project manager, said: "The event was a great success, the children tried their hand at juggling, took part in craft activities, played team building games and generally had a good time.

"This kind of holiday provision is so important for the children we work with. Most have had a tough start in life and the positive activities programme helps them build their confidence and gives them a chance to relax and have fun with their peers."

The project has been part funded by Sheffield City Council's 'Kids Can Do' Programme, and the fun day was provided by South Yorkshire Police.
