Welcome the new year in style with a visit to a spectacular Sheffield show.
The Chinese New Year will be marked with a show at Sheffield City Hall on Tuesday – and we are giving away two pairs of tickets to the colourful spectacle.
The annual evening celebration will include traditional Chinese dance and music with glittering authentic costumes throughout the show to welcome the Year of the Horse.
The performance will also include the artistic dragon dance and specialist Chinese performers.
A City Hall spokeswoman said: “We will be joined by a variety of professional performers, from the local community as well as contributions from China.
“Award-winning acrobats, specialist dancers and Chinese instrumental ensemble are just some of the performers that will be taking place this year – it is bound to be an unforgettable night, yet again.”
The event will start at 5pm and be in two stages.
From 5pm, it will be in the ballroom, where Chinese performances will take place together with a Confucius Institute Chinese New Year competition award ceremony.
Then, from 7pm, the action moves to the main stage with performances from Wanlin Dance School, Chengdu Cultural Performance Team and Sheffield Confucius Institute.
The Chengdu Cultural Performance Team are acrobats from China.
An event spokeswoman said: “The team of performers are a delight to watch as they are featured in a comical routine of hat juggling.
“This act highlights a team of performers in a fast-paced, precise performance of juggling that has been handed down through the ages –straw hats fly back and forth with seeming ease in this humorous act.”
