MOUNTAIN rescuers helped a walker who fell and fractured his leg.
The 49-year-old, from the Manchester area, was at the top of Jacob's Ladder, in the Edale Valley, when he fell on Sunday.
Heavy rain, strong winds and poor visibility meant the air ambulance couldn't be scrambled so rescue team volunteers from Buxton and Kinder treated him at the scene and took him on a stretcher to an ambulance.
The day before two walkers from Nottingham had got lost on Kinder Downfall as darkness fell and heavy rain and strong winds swept the area.
They phoned Derbyshire Police and the force helicopter was scrambled to help Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, who found the walkers two hours later.
