Visitors to Magna Science Adventure Centre in the first week of the school holidays were up 40 per cent on last year.
More than 5,000 people visited the tourist attraction in Rotherham in the first seven days of the summer break, with many enjoying the outside play areas Sci-Tek and Aqu-Tek.
Stuart Ballard, education manager at Magna, said: “The great thing about Magna is that there is something to do whatever the weather. Inside is absolutely fascinating. The sheer size of the place is really breath-taking and there are more than 100 hands-on exhibits on the themes of earth, fire, air and water.”
A total of 5,036 people visited compared with 3,616 in 2013.
