DONCASTER’S leisure centres will be run by a new organisation from tomorrow.

Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust officially takes over the running of leisure facilities which were previously run by Doncaster Council.

The move is the culmination of talks between the council, Dearne Valley Leisure Trust and the trust.

Trust chairman Andrew Burden said: “This has long been a vision of the council and both trusts to bring the venues under one management structure and the thinking behind this move will ensure that we are best placed to improve the standard of provision and increase participation for all residents in the borough.”

DCLT venues will include the Adwick, Askern, Armthorpe, Edlington, Rossington, Thorne and Dearne Valley leisure centres, Crookhill Golf Course, Hatfield Water Park, St James Pool, and The Dome.
