Tree-mendous student Adam fells the competition

FOR trees a jolly good fellow...

Congratulations to Sheffield's Adam Winson who is just the fella - or should that be feller - if you have tree-related problem.

Adam, from Stannington, has been named winner of the annual Lockhart Garratt Masters Award, which recognises each year's top graduating student from Myerscough College's MSc degree in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry.

Adam was handed an award and a cheque for 200. Adam said: "I was pleased and surprised to win the award as I faced some tough competition from my fellow students.

"I've enjoyed working within the arboricultural industry for most of my career. Originally this was as a groundsman, dragging logs and feeding the chipper, then as a climber before moving on to consultancy work. I'm now working as a consulting arboriculturist.

"I'm hoping to pursue arboriculture as far as I can and although it required commitment, the MSc was an extremely rewarding experience."

The MSc is a high level qualification in the industry.
