A play which opened at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre earlier this year has won a major accolade at the UK Theatre Awards.
Translations, directed by James Grieve and produced by Sheffield Theatres, was named Best Touring Production.
It was performed at the Crucible in February and March as part of the Brian Friel Season and then went on to tour for six weeks across the country.
Artistic director Daniel Evans said: “We are thrilled that Translations has been recognised with a UK Theatre award.
“We were incredibly proud of this production and this accolade is a testament to the work of the wonderful cast, creative team and production team who not only created a beautiful piece of work on our main stage, but also ensured that the beauty of the show was impeccable on tour throughout the UK.”
Sheffield Theatres has organised a number of tours this year and currently has three shows on the road - The Full Monty, This Is My Family and Twelfth Night.
