VOLUNTEERS at Rotherham Civic Theatre raised £4,000 for charity - by bucket-collecting during panto season.

A team of 32 stewards gathered donations from theatre-goers across 74 shows.

Mark Scott, Rotherham theatres manager, said: “It’s an incredible amount. These volunteers have been at every performance of Peter Pan, without fail, and our audiences have really embraced the opportunity to help.”

The money will go to Rotherham Hospital children’s charity Dr Ted, which aims to enhance the quality of life for children in the hospital by building a better environment, providing fun and learning accessories and better medical equipment.

Tracey Williams, charity fundraising officer, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Rotherham theatres and everyone who donated to the appeal.”
