COUNCILLORS have passed a motion congratulating the work of Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre on its 40th anniversary.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, numerous Crucible 40 events are running between September 2011 and January 2012, this includes the recent production of Othello staring Dominic West of The Wire fame.
The motion, approved by a full meeting of Sheffield Council, was proposed by veteran Labour councillor, Pat Midgley.
She said: “As someone who is a regular at the Crucible Theatre, I think we are very fortunate to have such a venue in Sheffield, which always brings some of the top productions and stars to our city.
“I am very pleased that we are able to recognise the contribution that it makes to the cultural offer of the city and there have been a range of productions put on to mark the 40th anniversary.”
