The sound of clashing swords will ring out over Bolsover Castle near Chesterfield this Bank Holiday weekend, as visitors are transported back in time to an early 14th century encampment of fighting knights, squires and maidens.
On Sunday and Monday battling barons will be showing off their skills in the tournee ring for the finale of English Heritage’s summer events season.
Children can take part in a mini battle of their own and a hobby horse joust is sure to keep them entertained.
Visitors will also get to meet a variety of medieval folk including an executioner, herbalist and spicer as well as the brave knights.
Lynsey Coombs, English Heritage visitor operations manager, said: “The Clash of the Knights is the finale to our summer of events at Bolsover Castle.”
n The fun runs from 11am to 5pm each day and admission is £8.50 for adults, £7.65 for concessions, and £5.10 for children.
