A PIECE of Sheffield will be forever dedicated to The Prof - after a star in honour of the city cancer expert was unveiled in the city's Walk of Fame.
Professor Barry Hancock, who is known affectionately to his former colleagues and patients as The Prof, was at the spot outside the Town Hall to see his name join other Sheffield legends like Seb Coe, Michael Palin, Sean Bean and Def Leppard on the city pavement.
Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun Alan Law said: "Barry Hancock is known and loved by all his patients and colleagues, and he has won worldwide respect and numerous accolades for his tireless work against cancer. There were many worthy nominations for this year's honour, but he truly deserves to become a Sheffield Legend, as he is one of the most respected practitioners in this essential area of work."
Prof Hancock said he was "honoured and delighted" to land a spot in the Walk of Fame.
"Since I first came to Sheffield in 1964, I have been in love with the city and its people," he said.
