A NEW performing arts school opens its doors with an open day ‘taster’ at Sheffield’s King Edward VII Upper School tomorrow at 2pm.

Sheffield Academy of Performing Arts, aimed at six to 17-year-olds, is to specialise in drama, singing and dance.

It is affiliated to Mark Jermin Management , a casting agency that provides children for TV advertising, film, theatre and as extras for such programmes as Waterloo Road.

Principal Gavin Magenty said: “The aim is to offer students a wide and versatile education in the performing arts, improving technique and confidence and offering them valuable performance opportunities.”

The school aims to put on a stage show every other year at a Sheffield theatre.
