SHEFFIELD’S unique festival filled with music, culture and sport to celebrate the Olympics attracted 20,000 people over two days.
Sheftival - which took place at Don Valley Stadium last weekend - has been hailed a huge success after the total number of visitors was announced.
People from across the region turned out to take part in free have-a-go sports and watch homegrown heroine Jess Ennis bring home the gold medal for Team GB in the Women’s Heptathalon.
There was also a music stage and activities at the English Institute of Sport.
Festival director Dave Healy said: “The event was a huge success. The brief was to do something special to celebrate Jess and Sheffield International Venue’s incredible sporting legacy.”
