A PAIR of South Yorkshire siblings are set to go head-to-head for a prestigious music award.
Jamie and Kathryn Roberts, both former students of Barnsley College, have each been nominated in the Best Duo category in the BBC Two Folk Awards with their respective music partners.
Kathryn, who is now based in Devon, has been nominated alongside her performance partner Sean Lakeman.
Jamie, who lives in Barnsley, is up for the gong with his partner Katriona Gilmore.
He said: “It’s a real honour to get a nomination for such a prestigious award.
“Being nominated in the same category as Kathryn and Sean, as well as Hannah James and Sam Sweeney – who are band mates of mine from another band I play with called Kerfuffle – should certainly add to the excitement of the awards.
“When I was at Barnsley College, Kathryn was already a very established performer on the folk scene.
“At that time I would have never imagined that 10 years down the line I would be in a similar position.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow on January 30 next year.
