THE funeral has been arranged for clubland legend Tony Whyte, who has died aged 84 from cancer.
A service will take place at 12noon on Tuesday, May 15, at Barnsley Crematorium, Doncaster Road, Stairfoot, Barnsley.
Familiar faces including Hi-de-Hi! star Paul Shane, and Sheffield comic actor Bobby Knutt, are among the famous names expected to attend.
Tony, who lived in Woodseats and later Barnsley, was compere at the Fiesta club - and for a quarter of a century his limp-wristed camp act was the talk of the town.
His catchphrase was, ‘Shut your gob - Tony’s speaking’, and his camp antics were viewed as outrageous for the time.
He leaves a sister, Pat, in Sheffield, and long term partner Karl in Germany.
