BUDDING photographer Ian Brace has been crowned the winner of a city-wide competition run by sofa firm DFS.

The company challenged snappers to take a picture of Sheffield’s favourite landmark - which, according to research by the firm, is the Winter Garden.

Ian, aged 39, will now have his winning entry displayed in the DFS store on Fornham Street for all to see. Store manager Ryan Maloney said: “We received some fantastic entries and there was much discussion among the judges as to which was the best.

“In the end Ian’s photograph was handed first prize as the judges loved the effects on the image - the result of Ian using a process called HDR, High Dynamic Range.

“We hope lots of people will come into the shop to see the picture for themselves.”

Ian, a window fabricator from the Manor, said he was thrilled to hear he had won. “I still can’t believe it,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to see my photograph on display.”

He has wife Megan to thank for his win - she submitted his picture to the competition.

The couple celebrate their wedding anniversary on Monday.
