A ‘village fete fun day’ is happening on Saturday as part of a £1 million appeal to revamp Weston Park Museum.

The event, taking place in and around the museum from 10.30am to 4.30pm, will feature family activities such as penalty shoot-outs, treasure hunts and a tombola.

Weston Park’s I Love My Museum campaign aims to fund a complete renovation of the art and archaeology galleries, creating new displays exploring Sheffield’s wildlife and local history, as well as a refurbished picnic space.

The appeal is supported by a grant of £697,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Cat Dale, Museums Sheffield’s grants and donations officer, said: “We’ve been fundraising all year to make the transformation a reality. We’ve got the target firmly in our sights and we’re all set for our last big push.”
