Two new shops are set to open in Sheffield city centre – giving The Moor a welcome boost.
The Entertainer, the biggest independent toy retailer in the UK, is to open its 93rd UK store in a retail unit in the New Markets Building, opening its doors next month.
Fashion chain Select is also moving in, taking over 6,000 sq ft in the old Woolworths building, with Theatre Delicatessen taking over the rest of the premises.
The Entertainer opened its first shop in 1981 and is growing at an average of one new store a month.
Select was launched in the 1980s and in 2004 became a ‘catwalk to high-street style’ retailer. It has over 150 UK stores.
Gary Grant, managing director of The Entertainer said: “Sheffield is the UK’s fourth largest city and we have long wanted to open a new store in this vibrant community and provide a toy shop experience that is missing here.”
Select owner Cafer Mahiroglu said: “We’re thrilled with the opening of the Sheffield store on The Moor - we feel it will be a welcome addition to this area of the city centre.”
Ranald Phillips, for landlords Aberdeen Asset Management, added: “Our investment has meant we have been able to conduct positive discussions with key retailers such as these.”
