Scaffolding poles taken in unit break-in

MORE than 100 aluminium flat poles and bases have been stolen from an industrial unit.

Specialised Canvas Services based on Ireland Industrial Estate, Adelphi Way, Staveley, was broken into at around 4pm on December 23 by thieves who entered the unit through a perimeter fence.

A total of 38 six-metre long flag poles, 68 bases, and a scaffolding tower were taken.

Four men were seen loading the poles and bases into a white van parked on Pavilion Drive.

They were all around 6ft and wearing black beanie hats and dark clothing. Two are described as stocky and the other two as slim.

Police officers investigating the break-in have spoken to local scrap metal dealers and urged them to get in touch if they are offered the items.

PCSO Suzanne Cooke said: "Due to the size and amount of items that were stolen it would have taken a long time to get them all into the van.

"We are hoping that someone in the area saw something that may help us to identify those responsible."

Anyone with information should call Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Team on 0345 1233333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
