A FORMER S Club 7 star is set to headline Doncaster’s gay pride event later this year.
Jo O’Meara will be the big name at the August 20 event at the Keepmoat Stadium, taking part in the seven hour festival for the second year.
Organisers have also revealed a number of other acts including tribute singers and high profile local bands.
Jo performed with former S Club bandmates Paul Cattermole and Bradley McIntosh at last year’s Pride.
A spokeswoman said they received probably the best feedback of any performer ever at Doncaster Pride.
She said: “Chants of ‘S Club, S Club’ echoed around the venue before, during and after the 30 minute performance and the two encores - never known in Pride history.
“She is ‘thrilled’ to be coming back to Doncaster again and we know the Pride crowd will make her as welcome as they did last year.”
The singer took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, and was one of a number of celebrities embroiled in a row over a fellow contestant, the Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, which led to Jo denying that she was racist.
Doncaster-based bands performing on the main stage will include Tobias, who have been been performing all over the UK for the last 20 years, and Bang Bang Romeo.
Bang Bang Romeo are fronted by Anastasia Walker, the singer daughter of the former Coronation Street actor Chris Walker.
Last year they had TV exposure with their video for Little Love aired on 4Music’s What’s Hot.
Tribute bands performing include sound alikes for Abba, Pink, Katie Perry and Boy George.
