A town centre’s popular shopping reward scheme is set to hit the road thanks to an innovative partnership.

Rotherham’s award-winning Shop Local scheme, which has so far encouraged more than 15,000 cardholders to enjoy the benefits of discounts, offers and free gifts in over 100 stores, is now joining forces with First Buses.

When presenting their Shop Local card to the driver on any First Rotherham bus, travellers can get a First Day family or group day ticket for £7.80 instead of £8.50, which will allow unlimited travel for up to two adults and three children.

Bernadette Rushton, retail investment manager, said: “The Shop Local card has been a huge success here in Rotherham.

“This new and unique partnership will help the scheme to grow in strength, and hopefully encourage more shoppers to visit the town centre.”

Paul Flanagan, Rotherham business manager from First South Yorkshire, added: “We’re always very keen to support the town centre and Rotherham in general.

“We look forward to working more in partnership with the town centre team and enjoying the journey with them.”
