SHE is unrecognisable as the woman she once was.
Super slimmer Claire Alsop is looking good – and much, much smaller than her former self.
Claire, from Rotherham, has lost 11 stones, seven-and-a-half pounds.
As a result, she got to meet Dancing on Ice winner and Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden – and could go on to win the holiday of a lifetime.
Claire met Matthew at a national slimming competition after she was one of 47 women from across the UK and Ireland to reach the semi-finals of Slimming World’s 2012 woman of the year competition.
And she has made the final 10 going forward to the national final, putting her in the running to win the overall title and a holiday to St Lucia.
The 30-year-old has slimmed down from 21st 9lb to 10st 1lb since she joined the Brinsworth Slimming World group in January 2011.
The group, which is run by Joanne Fawdry, meets at Brinsworth Whitehill Primary School every Wednesday.
Claire’s weight loss and new-found confidence inspired her fellow members to vote her as their representative in the annual Woman of the Year competition.
After winning the regional heat, she secured a place in the national semi-finals and she has now reached the final 10.
She said: “I’d tried so many times and so many ways to lose weight before, usually depriving myself of the foods I enjoy, counting calories and going hungry, so unsurprisingly my attempts usually failed miserably.
“Slimming World was different to anything I’d known before. I did have to make changes to the way I cooked and ate, but they were small changes made easy at Slimming World.
“I loved tucking into healthy meals and watching the pounds fall off.
“If ever my motivation did start to fade, my consultant and the rest of the group were there to remind me how far I’d come.
“I love going to the group every week, I’ve made so many friends.
“Thanks to them – and my weight loss – I’m a more confident person as well as a slimmer one.”
Joanne said: “Claire is not only looking fab, she’s a brilliant example of the difference making changes to your eating habits and getting more active can make.
“She’s added years to her life and her success is inspiring other people in the group and Rotherham to turn their health around and help us beat obesity in the area.”
Claire and the nine other finalists will take to the stage at a glittering event in Birmingham next month to find out who will be named woman of the year 2012.
