Have your say

THERE are just days to go until a new Star is born, writes The Editor Jeremy Clifford

For those of you who have been watching its gestation, a bit like Channel 4’s Easter Eggs programme at the weekend, we have some hatchlings already in the form of Wow 24/7 our new entertainments pullout, Retro, the superb 12-page nostalgia supplement, and now Full Time - 16 pages of sports action and reaction.

So what’s it all about.

Well, as readers’ demands and, to use a terrible word, “consumption” of newspapers and images change, so too must the newspapers that serve them.

If we stayed still we would soon be seen as out of date. But what we need to do is to change gradually, to keep what we do best and improve on other areas.

And that is precisely what we’ve been doing with The Star since I took on the role of Editor nearly two years ago.

This year, it is time to move on again, and we have been working with some of the top designers in the world to give The Star a modern, vibrant, light new look.

But it is not just about the look, it is about refreshing what’s inside the covers. And I’m confident you will be pleased with what we will be serving up on Tuesday, April 16.

We are adding eight pages to Wednesday’s Star, concentrating on what women want - fashion, beauty, gossip, chat, baking, problems - you name it.

And that has freed up space in the newspaper throughout the week to bring more news, features and comment.

This is my introductory blog to you to let you know that The Star is changing. I’m not going to give it all away today, I want you to keep coming back to read my daily updates on what is changing.

So for now, I am going to give you a taste of what is to come this week.

You will see a brand new Grass Roots sports pullout come into the world on Friday. It has a great new look and feel.

We will also be aiming to introduce our new-look puzzles page - with new features and some of the old.

On this website, I will also be popping up designs of some of the new pages we are working on.
