SOUTH Yorkshire brewery Acorn will celebrate a top accolade for its ‘brewery tap’ - the Old No7 pub in Barnsley - during a four-day beer extravaganza next week.

The Wombwell brewer’s pub in Market Hill won the CAMRA Local Pub of the Year accolade only months after being launched as a ‘cask ale haven’.

Now, for four days from next Thursday, July 5, the pub will showcase 21 cask ales along with 10 premier ciders and perries and a selection of top quality lagers and keg wheat beers.

And next Friday night Barnsley CAMRA members will present the Local Pub of the Year trophy to Acorn boss Dave Hughes and the pub staff, followed by a tutored cider-tasting session.
