A NATIVITY scene, created by local schoolchildren, has been unveiled in South Yorkshire.
The Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Dorothy Higginbottom, joined pupils from Sandhill Primary School to reveal the special nativity image, on display inside the main entrance of Barnsley Town Hall.
The schoolchildren, from Great Houghton, worked with local artist Amanda Stoner to create the picture, which features Mary holding a baby Jesus, surrounded by angels.
“Children from the foundation class, right up to year six, worked on this festive display, using colourful beads and fabrics to make the beautiful image,” said a Barnsley council spokesman.
“It will be on display in the Town Hall’s main entrance over the Christmas period and into the New Year.
