With Halloween this Saturday, there are plenty of spooky and spectacular events for the whole family. From vampire films to haunted hayrides, here are our top picks for the weekend.

Wealthy City Walks

October 31-Nov 1, 2pm

Starting and ending at the Millennium Gallery


Led by students from the Sheffield School of Architecture, these free walks will explore John Ruskin’s famous adage, “There is no wealth but life.” The walks will last an hour in the city centre and explore the communities, buildings, and history that surround the city.

Peter Phillips solo exhibition

October 30, 10am- 5pm

99 Mary Street, S1 4RT


The pop artist, whose work has been exhibited alongside heavyweights like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, will be showing rare prints at 99 Mary Street. The exhibition opens on Friday and will run through to November 25.

Common Threads Clothes Swap

October 31, 12-4pm

St Peter’s Hall, Common Ground S7 1GR

£3 entry, kids free

Tired of wearing the same clothes over and over again, but don’t have the cash to buy more? This clothes swap is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate your wardrobe. Bring a bag of clean clothes (they should be in good condition) and walk away with someone else’s threads.

Abbeydale Picture House S7 1FS


The classic 1920s silent film will be showing at Abbeydale Picture House, with pianist Jonathan Best playing a live, improvised score. The vampire film, appropriate for all ages, is sold out on Halloween. Tickets are still available for the Sunday showing and viewers are encouraged to dress up.

Freaky Fun for Halloween

Suggested £3 donation per child

The Sheffield General Cemetery is the ideal backdrop for this Halloween event. There will be craft workshops making Halloween lanterns, wands and masks for young children.

Halloween Party

Tickets to the 6pm Halloween party have already sold out, but fear not! The Sheffield Manor Lodge are running a second party earlier in the afternoon. Be sure to snatch up the remaining tickets and show up in your best costume!

Halloween Spooktacular

October 31 to November 1, 10am-5pm

Butterfly House

Normal admission applies: £9.50 for adults, and £8.50 for children

Carve a pumpkin, take a haunted hayride and watch a bird show hosted by scary witches at this Halloween Spooktacular. Kids are encouraged to dress up as there will be a costume competition. Lemurs, meerkats, owls and snakes will be on view to add to the atmosphere.
