POETRY about topics ranging from local history to children’s verse will be performed at a Sheffield church.

St Aidan’s, Manor Lane, is hosting an event featuring local poet Matt Black tomorrow, from 11.30am, as part of the annual Off the Shelf Festival of Writing and Reading.

It will include poetry and history of Sheffield Markets and Matt’s Nonsense Olympics, which are based on the works of Edward Lear.

St Aidan’s said: “Matt Black is a writer and performer based in Sheffield. He writes poems and occasionally fiction for adults and children.

“Matt also enjoys commissions and collaborations with other artists, and works in all sorts of places and situations, specialising in tailor-made projects that range from the serious and educational to the crazy and sublime.”
