Plans to bring a giant 1,000ft water slide to Sheffield has been shelved.

American firm Slide the City had earmarked Graves Park for part of the slide’s tour of the UK this summer.

The giant flume has caused a sensation in other parts of the UK where it has attracted hordes of thrillseekers.

The company’s website said the slide was ‘coming soon’ to the city and Sheffield Council confirmed it was in the process of confirming the final arrangements.

But the plug has now being pulled on the plans.

A council spokesman said: “I can confirm that the proposed Slide the City event for Sheffield is no longer set to take place.”

The company has removed the Sheffield event from its website.
