SICK children in South Yorkshire are set to benefit from a charity’s cash windfall this Christmas.
Staff and patients at Sheffield Children’s Hospital are celebrating a £7,500 donation from Sky employees at the city’s customer contact centre.
For the past 12 months, a team of workers have been taking part in a variety of fundraising stunts for their chosen charity, including a team sky dive, a charity bonanza week, bake sales and raffles.
The grand finale came this month, when Sky staff agreed to tread the boards in a festive pantomime at Sheffield’s Library Theatre to round off a successful year of fundraising.
The spirit of giving was alive and well as the employees handed over the cheque at the hospital.
Laura Oades, charity events organiser at Sky Sheffield, said: “I’m really proud of what the Sky team has achieved in aid of the hospital this year and it was amazing to be able to present the charity with a cheque for such a considerable amount. Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a fantastic local charity that aims to provide the best hospital care possible for sick children in the region.
Tchad Western, corporate fundraiser at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, said: “Every penny is valuable to the charity.”
