Old skills recalled at Sheffield museum craft course

Have your say

Forgotten skills will be remembered at a new course at a Sheffield museum.

People are invited to learn to ‘sew, quilt, embroider and make rag rugs and much more’ at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, part of the Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust.

The 11-week course will start at the Abbeydale Road South venue on Monday, January 13, with sessions every Monday from 10am to 1pm, except February 24.

A spokeswoman for the Workers’ Educational Association course said: “You will have the opportunity to make costumes and items for the manager’s house and worker’s cottage on the site.

“In addition, you will learn how to cost the items and skills to start your own business.
