TWO homes were broken into on Sheffield on the same day after windows were left open.

The properties were targeted on Rundle Road, Sharrow, and Montrose Road, Carter Knowle on Saturday,

A house on Jordanthorpe View meanwhile was broken into when a window was smashed to gain access to the key which had been left in the door lock on Sunday night. And a house on Atlantic Road Lowedges, was broken into after a door was left unlocked overnight last Friday.

Colliery site ‘must be regenerated’

Bolsover District Council has written to the Homes and Communities Agency objecting to the proposed removal of the former Creswell Colliery site from the National Coalfields Programme of regeneration.

Factors include a lack of agreement between the land owner Welbeck Estates and the council on a viable scheme. But Coun Alan Tomlinson said the site had to stay on the list for the benefit of local communities. The land owners are also understood to have objected.

Police crash plea

POLICE are appealing for a motorist to get in touch who may have witnessed a crash on Penistone Road in Sheffield. The collision involved a Peugeot and a marked police vehicle, on Friday, October 5, just after 11am. Police are appealing to the driver of a dark coloured car who stopped. Call police on 101 quoting incident 362 of October 5.

Helicopter pursuit

THE police helicopter was used in a pursuit around the Arbourthorne estate in Sheffield, which resulted in two arrests. Officers were chasing a vehicle which had been used in a crime on Saturday.

Boys, 14, arrested

TWO boys aged just 14 have been arrested by police on suspicion of robbery after a 34-year-old woman had her purse and phone stolen on a Sheffield street.

She was threatened and robbed on Shirebrook Road at 10.30pm last Sunday.

Probe into car theft

POLICE are investigating the theft of a car from Westwick Road, Greenhill, overnight on Sunday into Monday. Call police on 101 with information.
