APPLICATIONS are being invited for funding in the Gleadless Valley and Beauchief and Greenhill areas of Sheffield.

The Community First Funding is open to all community and voluntary sector groups, with an emphasis on new groups and existing smaller grassroots groups.

Applications can be submitted for between £250 and £2,500. Call 0114 2649446 in Gleadless, or 0114 2373095 in Beauchief and Greenhill. The deadline for both is September 14.

Closing ceremony

FAREWELL London – hello Brazil! A free party to celebrate the end of the London 2012 Olympics and to look forward to the 2016 Games in Rio takes place in Weston Park in Sheffield on Sunday, September 9. The event, from 11am to 3pm, features music, dance, arts and crafts and activities. There is no need to book.
