The hunt is on for an amiable animal who’s willing to visit a Sheffield care home next Wednesday.

Staff at Herries Lodge, a residential dementia care home on Teynham Road, Shirecliffe, are planning a series of events to mark Dementia Awareness Week.

Home manager Karen Zaman said: “We have come up with a programme based on the theme of Seaside Reminiscences - which will include a sand pit, ice creams in cones, fish and chips in the paper,” she said.

“But the highlight was to be the visit of a donkey. We had arranged for Gertrude to come from Graves Park - but sadly she passed away this week.”

Anyone able to help should call Mike Russell at The Star on 0114 276 7676 extension 3523.
