Rising Sheffield stars High Hazels will be among the bands and musicians playing live in a series of events to mark the launch of the new University of Sheffield Students’ Union amphitheatre space.

The Long Lunch Sessions will be running from today between 1pm and 2pm every Tuesday throughout October in the newly constructed piazza, outside the refurbished and extended £20m students’ union building in Western Bank.

Today’s free performance by High Hazels will be followed on October 8 by Nat Johnson, formerly of Monkey Swallows The Universe, and on October 22 by Congolese musical good timers Soukous Revelation.

On October 19 the session will be extended to an afternoon, with six hours of bands and performers.
