Moving music at Cathedral

Have your say

MUSIC inspired by the July 7 bombings in London is being performed at Sheffield Cathedral.

Christian Forshaw and the Sanctuary Ensemble will be playing the piece, called Songs of Solace, on October 5 at 7.30pm.

Three years ago Christian was commissioned to write and perform music at the unveiling of a memorial in Hyde Park dedicated to victims of the 2005 atrocity.

He then met a woman called Julie Nicholson, whose daughter Jenny was killed in the bombings.

The relationship led to Songs of Solace, an album and musical response to Julie’s book A Song For Jenny.

Christian writes for an ensemble of saxophone, organ, voice and percussion.
