Victoria Wood’s popular sitcom Dinnerladies is heading for the stage at Doncaster Civic Theatre next month as part of the HotHouse Festival.
Classic Comedy Productions are bringing Second Helpings, a stage version of the comedy set in a works canteen, on May 27 and 28. The cast features two of the original BBC TV series members – Andrew Dunn and Sue Devaney.
Andrew played Tony, the canteen manager who had a secret yearning for Victoria Woods’ character Bren, when it ran on TV from 1998 to 2000. He is also known for his role as Roger Stiles in Coronation Street.
Sue Devaney, whose recent credits include Shameless on Channel 4 and the CBBC children’s animated series Harry and Toto, will also be in the stage version.
Performances are at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2pm. Tickets are £19 and £17.
