A TOP rapper has been handed an open invitation to Doncaster after he was reported to have taken a dislike to the borough.
Kanye West flew into the borough when he entered Britain through Robin Hood Airport ahead of a performance in the UK.
But it has been reported that the star was unimpressed by the borough and spent around £8,000 on a private jet to get him straight out of the borough as quickly as possible.
Now a personal tour of the borough is on the table for the star, whose hits include Stronger and Gold Digger, with Mayor Peter Davies.
A source close the rapper was reported as saying: “Kanye has a lot of money and isn’t afraid to spend it.
“He wasn’t too enamoured with Doncaster and wanted to get out of the town and into Birmingham as quickly as possible – this meant by jet.”
Mr Davies was not impressed with the comments.
He said: “I can’t say I’m greatly entertained by Mr West’s comments.
“But I would encourage next time he’s passing through Doncaster to get in touch and I’d be delighted to give him a personal tour of the town’s many assets and jewels that thousands of other visitors, businesses and celebrities support - and many other areas would give their eye teeth for.”
Mr West was heading for Birmingham for the latest leg of his Watch The Throne tour with fellow rap star, Jay-Z.
The trip from Doncaster to Birmingham is around 84 miles.
He is not the first big name star to fly from Robin Hood Airport, stars including U2 having used it.
