Matt’s misssion as poet laureate

ADULTS’ and children’s writer Matt Black has been appointed as the new Derbyshire Poet Laureate and is aiming to get more youngsters interested in verse and prose.

He knows Derbyshire, having worked in the county and through exploring in his caravan.

Matt is the fourth Derbyshire Poet Laureate and will be in his new role until September 2013.

Derbyshire County Council leader Coun Andrew Lewer said: “The laureate project was developed to celebrate Derbyshire places, people and traditions. It also aims to encourage people to read and have a go at writing their own poetry.”
