Local brews go down well

TWO local brewers fared well in a competition to find Britain's best winter beer.

Real Ale campaigners CAMRA placed Wombwell-based Acorn Brewery's Old Moor in the final of the Porter section of their Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition which was held at the National Winter Ales Festival in Manchester.

Meanwhile Thornbridge Brewery, which is based in Ashford in the Water, near Bakewell, had its Saint Petersburg beer placed in the final of the Stouts category.

The competition was judged by a panel of beer writers.
