BBC camera crews took over Sheffield City Hall for the filming of Arabic Question Time, which goes out to an estimated 30 million viewers.

The filming was the latest televised event to showcase Sheffield to audiences of more than 100 million people globally. The Liberal Democrat spring conference and the Songs of Praise School Choir competition were both staged at City Hall, and international sporting events have also boosted Sheffield’s profile.

The World Short Track Speed Skating Championship was staged at Sheffield Arena, and the FINA World Diving Series was hosted at Ponds Forge. Both were shown on the BBC’s red button.

Sheffield International Venues manager Dominic Stokes said: “This can only be great for us in procuring more events for Sheffield.”
