A COMEDIAN from Barnsley is celebrating 50 years in showbiz with a show at the town’s Lamproom theatre.
Bobby Knutt is appearing in a double bill with Rotherham lawyer and public speaker Stephen D Smith on Thursday, April 5, at 7.30pm.
The comic learned his trade in working men’s clubs and started his TV career on The Comedians in 1973, later hosting his own BBC North chat show called It’s A Knutthouse.
Bobby later progressed to acting in the BBC drama The Price of Coal, as well as shows including Heartbeat and Coronation Street.
He currently lends his vocal talents to TV adverts for Tetley Tea, and lives in Elsecar with his wife, ex-Olympic sprinter Donna Hartley.
