Kids on the ball in aspiration-building after-school scheme

WELL done!

More than 100 schoolchildren have been honoured by sports stars from Sheffield United for their dedication to an after-school education project designed to raise the aspirations of young people in the city.

Pupils from Bankwood Primary School, Dobcroft Junior School, Anns Grove Primary School, St Wilfred's Roman Catholic Primary School, Springfield Primary School and Abbeydale Primary School all took part in the Playing for Success project.

Part of the United Initiative, the seven-week scheme saw youngsters aged nine to 13 spend one evening a week during the school term perfecting their literacy, numeracy and computer skills in a range of football-inspired activities. Examples included mathematical tasks in the club shop and writing match reports.

All those who took part were presented with certificates in a ceremony at Bramall Lane.
