The Grammy winner, who has worked with Deep Purple and The Rolling Stones, is now touring his 14th studio album Unstoppable Momentum, with a stop in Sheffield next week.
Satriani’s momentum, including this 14th studio album, is driven by his love for music and to play live.
In an exclusive chat with The Star’s Graham Walker – which is on line at thestar.co.uk – he revealed what fans can expect and why he remains unstoppable.
He said: “We’ve been touring a few weeks now – we started in Istanbul – and we’re having a really great time. I should let everyone know I’ve got a new live band as well, playing all the new songs from the new record. We’re mixing it up with fan favourites, that we’ve been playing for over 25 years.
“So the set list is pretty crazy. It’s a very high-energy show. I guess a bit more rocking than we’ve had in decades.
“I’ve got Marco Minnemann on drums, Bryan Beller on bass guitar. Those two guys are from the band, The Aristocrats, with British guitarist Guthrie Govan. And I’ve got Mike Keneally also playing guitars and keyboards. Now we’ve been out for a few weeks we’re really nailing the new material really well. It’s been very exciting.”
