A STRING of big name jazz stars are lined up to play at Doncaster Racecourse’s first ever Summer Jazz and Blues event.
Bawtry based trombonist Dennis Rollins is set to headline the event, which will be live on the champagne lawn at the Town Moor venue, on Friday, August 12.
The trombone player extraordinaire is one of the most sought after jazz musicians in the UK and has played alongside a host of super-acts, including Sting, Blur and Tom Jones.
Joining Dennis live on the Doncaster stage for this standalone music event, will be Rythm Oil, a raucous five piece blues band with a harmonica wielding lead singer.
And completing the line up will be the Doncaster Jazz Orchestra; a big band ensemble with a track record of propelling it’s members onto the national and international music scene.
Advanced admission prices begin at £15 per person, and there will be a range of hospitality and dining options available, say organisers.
Mark Spincer, managing director of Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting such a great line up of acclaimed acts at our first ever dedicated jazz and blues event and I’m sure it is going to be a fantastic night out.
“Doncaster Racecourse has enhanced its music repertoire considerably in recent years with a run of after racing gigs and this is the first we’ve staged as a standalone, non-racing event.”
