TEENAGER Jade Skain met her pop idols Westlife last night to thank them for playing a big part in her recovery from a horrific road crash.
Jade had originally planned to see the Irish hearthrobs last year, but weeks before their concert she was knocked down by a car and sustained a fractured skull, a broken shoulder and lung damage. The serious extent of her injuries meant Jade was not guaranteed to survive, and doctors were worried about possible brain damage if she did pull through.
She spent three weeks in a coma at Sheffield Children's Hospital and was in intensive care for six weeks.
When Kian, Shane, Mark, Nicky and former band member Bryan heard about Jade's accident, they invited her nan Maureen McClarence and little sister Mia along to the Hallam FM arena to hand over get well goodies.
Almost a year later Jade is fighting fit and back at Handsworth Grange School full-time and wanted to thank the lads in person for contributing to her success.
So The Star arranged for Jade, aged 13, and her mum Jane, of Southsea Road, Woodhouse, to meet the lads in person, backstage at the Hallam FM arena.
Mum Jane said: "It was fantastic. We could not believe it when we saw them rehearsing and when we met them they were all lovely, really lovely."
