Staff at a Sheffield independent training organisation are celebrating after they were given their highest ever rating by Ofsted inspectors.
Sheffield Independent Film and TV – SHIFT – was praised for helping young people who have suffered disruption to their education to achieve success.
SHIFT, based in the heart of Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, won the second highest rating of ‘good’.
Inspectors said that most learners made substantial progress from low starting points, and many moved on to higher level courses or employment.
The number of young people achieving qualifications had also risen significantly over the past three years.
Chief executive Bridget Kelly said: “We are particularly pleased that we are improving the lives of black, Asian, minority, ethnic young people and white working class boys.”
