ONE of the world’s largest figure skating contests is returning to Sheffield next year, after a two decade absence.

The European Figure Skating Championship - the third largest competition involving figure skaters, behind the World Championships and the Winter Olympics - takes place at Sheffield Arena between January 22 and 29.

Scores of international media organisations are expected to descend on Sheffield to cover the competition, many of them using the event to visit England ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.

Tickets priced £160 and £110 will give customers access to every session during the contest. They go on sale at 9am on Sunday. From June 8, individual day tickets will be on sale priced £10 to £31 for a day. Log on to or call 0114 256 5656.
